The Navajo Code Talkers of the WWII era are the easiest for me, probably because of the movies and documentaries I've seen about them, but the black fighter squadron called the Red Tails and the first American generation Japanese infantrymen in the European Theater all banded together to keep this country glued together, for better or worse.
I'm sure that there was still plenty of racism that ran rampant in the ranks throughout our wars and history. Somehow all of the dissimilar groups came together when it counted, as they are doing today. This intrigues me.
They do it for love of land and love of their families. Some do it for other reasons. It doesn't matter. The desired effect is the same and there are times to look back and have a sense of pride in accomplishment that might not be seen in the insanity of war.
All I know is that there have been many who have stepped up and done their parts. This time in our country's quest to stop ruthless people from bullying the world is no different. Thank you.
