Since my last ramblings, cruised to Alaska and had a blast; went to Idaho and managed to get nailed with heat exhaustion; spent the last two weeks trying to get back on my feet and finished the final edit on Sheep Eater. My doc grounded me from any more travels this summer and now my innards are trying to tell me they ain't happy! 100 degree heat doesn't do well with a guy who wears shorts and t-shirts when it's in the 50's.
At least the book is on track to be released in about two weeks. Let's just say the path to get there was arduous but will hopefully worth the read. I'll be starting on my next project very soon. I apologize for the brief entry here, but I feel one of my frequent nap attacks coming on. I I got bored waiting for the final sign off on The Sheep Eater so dad and I took a week long cruise to Alaska and played the tconsummate tourists. What a hoot! We ate, we slept and we watched all manner of animals on land and sea. I think some of them just liked to show off - especially the bears..
Come to find out, the manuscript was overlooked, so its new release time will be early August. I'll post more information as I get it I've also started working on another book based in Northern Montana. I think the reader's going to like some of the unique storyline changes. With all of the edits I've done on The Sheep Eater, it's not too surprising it took over a month to post on this blog! Four have been completed and turned in since yesterday and I'm sure there's more to come. I was kidding my editor that this might end up being a short story instead of a novel. I've already shaved a couple of thousand words from the original manuscript.
The nice part is that there's light at the end of the tunnel if all goes well. The July 6th release isn't far away now. My dad and I might even be able to squeeze in on or two trips between here and there. That would be a nice change of pace The book cover should be out shortly, too. Then I can brag a bit more! Keep your eyeballs crossed...mine certainly are! The second edit of The Sheep Eater is back to the editor. You'd have thought that was enough activity in a week for a retiree, but no the fun has just begun. The youngest offspring is recovering from two major surgeries; the male child has proposed to get hitched to a gal I really like and will add two more grandkids to the mix; Numbah one son-in-law is being published as I write this and I'm very proud of him. Busy, busy, busy.
Overwhelmed? Not with the proper dosage of anti-anxiety meds! At least nothing has exploded yet, but my Kevlar is close at hand. I know that the third edit will be back to me shortly, though. If you see a mushroom cloud on the horizon, it's just me venting! Someone near and dear to my heart mention something about "It's A Go" on here a week ago. The past week has been a blur, but the first major edit of The Sheep Eater was completed and submitted to the publisher today, as requested. I think I might need to refresh my antiperspirant!
I cannot begin to adequately describe kicking my long-dormant brain into high gear and what it does to the cellular structure. It's not pretty and it makes a grinding sound until the synapses get greased up. I'm still trying to figure out what the "check engine" light is trying to tell me. At this rate the release date for The Sheep Eater will indeed be the first Monday of July. I hope to be still be around, too! Wow! It seemed like The Sheep Eater was light years away not long ago. The publisher rescheduled several books for release later than originally anticipated. Mine was among them. Now July is close in editorial terms and I'm still waiting for the "go" button to be pushed.
Hollow Point has been on the market for a wee bit over a year now and I've been pleased with the five star reviews it has received from regular readers. As with any other novel, a good deal of effort must go into alerting folks of its existence and location. If I've learned anything, it's that no one ever hears the same news at the same time, so I'll blow the bugle yet again!
This novel is a contemporary Native American-based story that involves crime, suspense and thrills that run up your leg assuming you haven't just spilled hot coffee in your lap at a good part. It is only available as an E-book on any major E-readers and takes seconds to find and download through Amazon Kindle or Champagne Book Group. I have found it easy to get through on long flights, quiet afternoons and any time you would like to read a story that will make you think. The short of it is that a Suquamish Tribal Cop is tasked with determining whether drugs are being manufactured on the Rez. The effort was met with many dead ends.. His fortune changes when he acquires the help of a sight-impaired Native Healer and his entourage of unlikely colleagues. Then unbelievable things begin to happen; the kind that would cause people to question a man's sanity. www.champagnebooks.com/store (Suspense/Thriller section) Geez, I only made it through a half year of news trying to sum it up. I didn't realize the whole post didn't make it through until much later. Sorry to leave you hanging, but the second half of 2014 wasn't all that inspiring. As a matter of fact, a good deal of it really sucked with the loss of my mother in early December and battling off the effects of a ginormous kidney stone.
Here it is better than a week into the new year and things are slowly moving into the new normal. My dad's adjusting to his new life sans his partner of 63 years the kidney stone was zapped into oblivion this past Monday, but now my granddaughters are battling pneumonia and the whole family looks like it got drug backwards through a rat hole. I'd like nothing more than to start working on the new e-book and get my mind off on other things for awhile. If all goes well, it should be released around the 1st Monday of July. Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement from those who knew the battles at hand. It meant a great deal. Now it's time to bring "The Sheep Eater" to life! |
