He was raised in the foothills of the Continental Divide, the backone of the world, by his father. Their cabin was several miles from the Reservation town of Browning that opens out onto the Great Plains.
Since there are few other characters he interacts with in this piece, the story will be told mostly by a narrator. It will entail man against man, man against self, and man against nature with a few twists along the way.
There is a bad man loose in bear country in the Badger Two Medicine area of the Divide. It is a sacred place to the Blackfoot. The bad man has ample backwoods skill. It will take someone with equal or better skill to find him and bring him back. The main character is one of a very few that can do it, but least favorite of the officials that need to have it done.
I am currently in the research phase and I anticipate the manuscript will eventually end up at 60-65,000 words when completed. I'll keep you posted along the way!
